Much More than Music in Caspar
Four concerts featuring 16 world-class folk groups and musicians will brighten the air of Caspar this weekend, August 7th and 8th, but that's not all!
Starting at 9 am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday, the Marketplace in Caspar's Village Square will be teeming with 50 booths featuring folk artists and wares from Tibet, Peru, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Chiapas as well as the hands of California folk. Free entertainment on the Marketplace Stage will begin with a Gorse Monster Parade at noon on both days.
Dalen Anderson, Caspar Community Center manager, and chef extraordinaire Georgia Lane promise "Caspar Pacific Rim Festival Cuisine" including breakfast and snack goodies, corn on the cob, barbequed chicken, veggie kebabs, Asian cole slaw, and hot fudge sundaes. Of course there will be all the customary Festival beverages, including beer donated by North Coast Brewery and teas and coffee from Thanksgiving.
Tickets for the concerts are still available, and will be through this Friday, at Tangents, Harvest Market, Twist, and Out of This World. Subject to availability, they will be available at the Festival information booth and at the door on Saturday and Sunday. Much more information about the concerts and the Festival can be found online at CasparFest.org.
The market closes, the music fades, and the last concert ends about 6 pm on Sunday afternoon.
Caspar Community president Judy Tarbell explains the Festival this way: "Music provides a wonderful thread that unites neighbors and visitors. We're glad we could hold an event like this, a family-friendly ëfun-raiser' to benefit coastal residents, in Caspar. We hope you'll join us."
