Gorse Monster Leads Caspar Parade | |
![]() | |
Caspar ("the friendly ghost town") once again hosts a festive and safe Hallowe'en gathering on Friday, October 31st. Gertie the Gorse Monster will make her traditional appearance to lead the parade of costumed young ones at 4:30pm. The Friendly Ghost may also appear at this time. Kevin and the Coconuts will entertain the crowd of children and parents with their calypso steelband music. Refreshments will be offered by the Caspar Children's Garden. At 5pm there will be a children's carnival with games, crafts activities, and a cake walk in the Center. There will be a Guess the Pumpkin's Weight contest.
For those who plan to make Caspar their final Hallowe'en destination, the Caspar Community will offer a dinner of soup, chili, corn bread, and salad from 6pm until 8pm. At 8pm all the young and old goblins, ghouls, and princesses will dance to the Afro Cuban salsa sounds of °Mambo This! There will be a costume contest for adults, with prizes, and of course, lots of heart-warming fun. For more information call the Caspar Community Center at 964-4997 or check out the pictures of Hallowe'ens gone by on the web at http://casparcommons.org/Halloween/
Hallowe'en has been a big event in Caspar for many years. Last year, the community celebrated acquisition of their Center by turning it into a haunted schoolhouse. Hundreds of children (and their parents) were amused and a little frightened by the wicked School Marm, a very mad Science Teacher, the Cafeteria Lady from Below, the School Nurse you would not want to encounter even if you did have a stomach ache, and of course, the Caged Principal. Although there will not be a haunted house this year, much fun is planned for all ages.
