Caspar Creates a Stir in Italy
English via Alta Vista translations (with a little help from our Italian friends): The more " green " city? It is found in California, and was born a year ago: 300 inhabitants, the sun its only source of energy. LOS ANGELES - With 300 entrepreneurial inhabitants and nine businesses, all rigorously " green ", a new utopic city is being born in California: Caspar, whose mission is to construct a community at the same time economically self-sufficient, respectful of the atmosphere and the natural beauties of the place. For a year and half a group of dreamers, from artists to millionaires, have been working to create a green and happy island on the northern coast of California. The village of Caspar boasts nine "attractions" that alone can give an idea of the type of inhabitants that it has magnetized up to now: two massage parlors, an acupuncturist, an pre-school, a printing office, a recording studio, a postal catalogue that sells meterological instruments and one synagogue. To Caspar the only source of energy is that solar one, the cars will have to be electric and builders will agree to only construct homes that do not block the view to the ocean, or shade the surrounding houses (thereby preserving their primary source of energy), and that in no way can ruin the atmosphere. |
