Drum & Dance

A new five-week session of Drumming (djembe) with Aliou Diouf from Senegal and African-inspired Dance for the Creaky with Annie Lee will begin Tuesday, November 21, at the Caspar Community Center.

Drum 4 to 5: Aliou (Ali) Diouf is a master drummer from Senegal. The class will use djembes; if you would like to borrow a drum for class, please call 964-0321 to reserve OR bring whatever drum you have. The class will focus on technique — how to play the slap, tone, and bass clearly — learning parts to traditional rhythms and developing stamina. Drummers may play for the dance class.

Dance 5:10 to 6:20: Annie Lee has been trying to learn African Dance for a long time. She is hoping to do a class that will feel comfortable for beginners and the creaky — an extended warm-up followed by basic steps and combinations.

Please call 964-0321 for more information or to reserve a drum.
