Caspar Community Meeting: December 1998

Caspar News and Press Releases

Caspar Community December 1998 Meeting

For Immediate Release

The monthly Caspar Community Meeting will be held Sunday, December 13, 1998, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the former What's Afoot Gallery, located directly across Caspar Road from the Jewish Community Center. The monthly Caspar Community Meetings remain the forum for Caspar residents to come together, meet their neighbors and share in an unequaled and unique opportunity to participate in designing and defining the future development of their community.

It has been through the Caspar Community Meetings that citizen input has been gathered in order to plan the Caspar community for the future. The current planning process began in the Fall of 1997 when it was announced that the Caspar Cattle Company was planning to sell its land holdings of approximately 300 acres. The Caspar Cattle Company land consists of a substantial amount of the downtown village, the undeveloped headlands, Caspar Beach, the riparian area, and the duck pond and meadows east of Highway One.

A formalized planning process began under the guidance and direction of Dr. Randy Hester of the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning, U.C. Berkley. The 8 preliminary plan designs have evolved to one plan through Caspar citizens' feedback at the monthly Community Meetings.

At the Sunday, December 13, 1998, Caspar Community Meeting, five members of the Caspar Community Project Steering Committee will be presenting an updated overview of the Community Planning Project. Patty Madigan, Vince Taylor, Mike Dell'Ara, Michael Potts, and Judy Tarbell will present information as to the various aspects of the progress of the Project.

In January, 1999, the Caspar Community Coordinator, Pat Ackley, will be established in her office, located in the village center. The Caspar Community Steering Committee is inviting the Caspar citizens to help with furnishing the Coordinator's Office by bringing office supplies, such as 20 lb. white paper, paper clips, 32-cent stamps, etc. to the December 13th Community Meeting.
